The Best Cannabis Podcasts

Wayne Schwind owns and operates Periodic Edibles, Oregon's leading cannabis caramel company and he has put together a fantastic series of episodes over the last few years.   Now approaching 200 epsiodes, the podcast was started to create a platform of cannabis education and regular guests like the fantastic Emma Chasen take it as far as you can handle with Cannabis Science 101 102 201 301 and 302 covering cannabinoids, terpenes, concentrates and beyond, with stops along the way to discuss edibles and the vaping crisis. The relatively new spinoff series Periodic Budtender Sessions proves to be chock full of info centered around the retail recreational dispensary experience and all the inherent challenges and subsequent opportunities.  

Already one of the best sources of cannabis business and science knowledge out there, Wayne and his team have recently outdone themselves with PeriodicSearch.com, a search engine that has indexed all of the episode content and allows you to search by any keyword.

The podcast where it always seems like 4:20 on Friday afternoon.  It's easy to feel like you've been listening to Ryan, Ed and Kaitlyn for so long that you're not really 2970 miles from Mendo/PDX. They're fortunately long episodes, so frequency isn't an issue and the unpredictability almost heightens the enjoyment of a new episode.

Alex Robles is a podcaster out of Ojai, California and he's got a ton of extremely educational content related to cultivation as well as many other cannabis related subjects, all framed by his very friendly and conversational tone  You can catch episodes by clicking the In My Grow logo, via YouTube channel or website or the Stitcher embed below. This is one of my feel goods for a few reasons.  It's no secret that I'm a big fan of Leafly and everything they've done to promote educational content for the consumer, but the warmth of this podcast has really stuck out for me since it's inception.  I dig Bruce Barcott's voice as much as his industry knowledge and obvious journalism chops and, if the stars are in alignment, it drops early Friday morning as I'm getting ready to crush my day.  Not only is it a top pick for its witty take on breaking industry news, it's also turned me on to The Shivas.  

Gary Johnston is a seasoned broadcaster and that comes through clearly in this podcast from "high above the Okanagan Valley."  At 40+ episodes and counting, The Cannabis Potcast is light-hearted, friendly and kind an his guests are as personable as their host.  BONUS: "Cultivar Corner" spotlights something special from one of the North America's most storied growing regions.  

Another podcast with the type of frequency that I crave and they usually drop on Tuesday.  Host Kris Lotlikar is as knowledgeable and accredited in the cannabis policy and activism veins as anyone in the country as are the equally astute rotating cast of regulars.  Also produced by Shea Gunther and MJToday Media are the requisite "Marijuana Today Daily" and one of my new favorites, the aptly titled  "Weed Wonks" with Jordan Wellington and Andrew Livingston.  

A weekly podcast with host Bethany Moore and guest NCIA members who share their experiences, challenges and successes operating businesses serving the legal cannabis industry.   Episodes are extremely thorough and flow well with topics spanning advocacy, community, education and stakeholders or executives from nearly every facet of the legal cannabis space.  

Host Jordan River brings together a very growcentric group of cultivators and breeders with an arsenal of regular guests that are legendary in the tight circle of cannabis genetics.  Topics span growing techniques, cannabis in pop culture, the history of cannabis and much more.  The granularity alone makes this one of the best cultivation podcasts.

Host Nic Nedin has a strong hospitality background and his down-to-earth conversations with leaders in the Canadian cannabis community have a very easygoing warmth because of it.  Forty episodes as well as some fun extras.

Joe Dolce, the former editor-in-chief of Details, wrote a fantastic book "Brave New Weed" and this podcast is an extension of that.  Over sixty episodes are available, featuring conversations on the amazing role of terpenes in directing a high, Cannabis Use Disorder and using cannabis to disrupt the Opioid Crisis.  Joe, Matthew and the guests deliver "high-minded content for the post-prohibitionist era."  Twitter  Instagram
